Head-quartered in Ireland, our client is a long-established diversified infrastructure, construction and energy company with significant business operations in Ireland and the UK, which have grown extensively in recent years.  The company has the ability to undertake complex multidisciplinary projects.  As part of a diversification strategy, the company is now focussing on providing alternative energy solutions for clients.  Having completed a number of projects in power generation and renewable energy, the company is now embarking on a major initiative in the UK. 

The business will involve working with a wide range of enterprises throughout the country in funding, building and maintaining alternative energy generation projects.
 
The company wishes to immediately recruit an appropriately experienced General Manager to lead this Division.
 
The person appointed will report to the Group Executive and will be responsible for:
 
  • business development
  • commercial and financial management
  • profitable operation of the division
  • formulating and developing marketing policy
  • developing the structure of the organisation to achieve the overall objectives.
 
Candidates will be senior executivess who set high standards and goals for themselves and those reporting to them.  Top class commercial skills, leadership ability combined with high levels of energy and initiative, strategic vision and strong interpersonal skills will be the hallmark of the successful candidate.  Relevant work experience in the energy or a related industry is desirable. 
 
Applicants will need to demonstrate a strong entrepreneurial flair, an established network of relationships within the sector and a knowledge of banking.  They will have a proven track record of negotiation with financial institutions in presenting business cases and securing funding for significant projects.  Strong financial management skills, experience in marketing and business development and an understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing the sector will be key attributes.
